Asia’s wealthiest individual, Mukesh Ambani, addressed his company’s workforce on Thursday, emphasizing the imperative to expedite the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across all sectors of Reliance Industries by 2024. “Being at the forefront of data utilization, with AI as a catalyst, is crucial for achieving a substantial leap in productivity and efficiency,” he asserted.

Ambani highlighted that the implementation of AI would empower the company to address India’s key priorities in education, healthcare, agriculture, and employment generation.

This statement from Mukesh Ambani followed a recent announcement by his son, Akash Ambani, revealing that Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. is collaborating with the Indian Institute of Technology to introduce ‘Bharat GPT,’ a large language model customized for the specific needs of Indian users.

Beyond its traditional focus on oil and gas, Reliance has solidified its presence in the digital realm, boasting ownership of JIO, one of India’s largest telecom and internet service providers, along with a significant footprint in e-commerce. Established by Mukesh Ambani’s father, Dhirubhai Ambani, in 1957, Reliance has attained a market value of $200 billion, solidifying its status as one of the world’s premier conglomerates.

In his recent address, Mukesh Ambani expressed his ambition for Reliance to ascend to the ranks of the top 10 global conglomerates and cautioned employees against complacency. He remarked, “Today, the business landscape, both domestically and globally, is evolving rapidly. Complacency has no place—Reliance has never been complacent in the past, and it never will be in the future. Reliance can and will evolve to become one of the top 10 business conglomerates worldwide.”
